Biocompatible Dentistry Ensures that you will have a Healthy, Beautiful Smile

Because Dr. Holly Nadji is concerned about the overall health and well-being of her dental patients, she uses no materials in her dental practice that contain mercury.

Using only Safe Materials that are Compatible with Your Body

Many people do not realize that "silver" amalgam fillings are 50%  elemental mercury (FDA.gov), which is very toxic, even in small amounts. Due to its poisonous nature, mercury can adversely affect the immune, urinary, cardiac, respiratory and digestive systems. Under laboratory conditions, mercury has produced brain cell deterioration identical to that seen in victims of Alzheimer's disease.

With so many other, better and safer choices available, Dr. Nadji chooses not to offer amalgam, mercury-containing fillings to her patients.

Your dental work will be a part of your body for a very long time. Don’t you want to be sure that the materials used will be safe for years to come?

Which Type of Filling is Best?

No one type of filling is best for everyone. What's right for you will be determined by the extent of the repair, the location and daily usage of the affected tooth, whether you have allergies to certain materials and the cost. Modern materials we use for fillings are composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), gold and porcelain.

Composite Resins (tooth-colored) Fillings are matched to be the same color as your teeth and therefore used where a natural appearance is desired.

Gold fillings
are made to order in a laboratory and then cemented into place. Gold inlays are well tolerated by gum tissues. Many people consider gold the best filling material. However, it is often the most expensive choice and requires multiple visits.

Porcelain fillings are called inlays or onlays and are produced to order in a lab and then bonded to the tooth. They can be matched to the color of the tooth and resist staining. A porcelain restoration generally covers most of the tooth. Their cost is similar to gold.

I have dental amalgam (silver) fillings in my mouth, should I have my fillings removed?

Dental amalgams contains approximately 50% elemental mercury (FDA.gov). If you want to remove your amalgam fillings or believe you have an allergy or sensitivity to mercury or any of the other metals in dental amalgam (such as silver, tin, or copper), have cracks or leakage in the filling or decay or sensitivity in an amalgam filled tooth, we can remove the amalgam and restore your tooth to it's natural color.
